| (Thursday, January 12, 2006, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
Sponsored by the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA), Rowan University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, USASB Entrepreneurship Education Division, and USASBE Technology Entrepreneurship Division
- To provide an intensive demonstration of the I2V model and how it is implemented for potential host sites.
- To provide a faculty leadership and development opportunity for business and technical faculty members, students from E-teams, and directors of entrepreneurship centers to develop approaches to deal with technological innovations with commercial potential and/or demonstrable social benefits.
- To balance curricula so there are multidisciplinary topics involving students and advisors from technical, business, and humanities disciplines. The I2V model does this by preparing faculty from multiple disciplines and students from technology and business areas to approach venture creation with new skills.
- To develop an entrepreneurial/commercialization focus and to create guides for action plans using interdisciplinary faculty teams. One unique aspect of the I2V workshop is the focus on bringing non-technical faculty and engineering/science faculty together and the creation of a commercialization plan guide. Mixing faculty from different disciplines into the teams can provide what we term “additive” rather than “duplicative” learning. People bring different points of view, needs for products, and knowledge capital to the teams to create the commercialization plan.
- To develop linkages for attendees with a national support organization.
The target audience is entrepreneurship faculty interested in technology commercialization and the potential of offering an I2V type of event. Also targeted are engineering/technical faculty interested in the business elements of commercialization, persons wanting to forming linkages with USASBE and NCIIA, center directors that need assistance in program development, and students who have business plans/research projects and need information about commercialization.
